Emergency Procedures
Craig Williams Emergency Information
All parents will have concerns about the safety of their children and about safety measures and practices that are in place and are carried out daily. We wanted you to be aware of the safety plan already in place at Craig Williams Elementary and efforts to reinforce those measures. At Craig Williams, we practice fire drills, earthquake drills, and lockdown drills on a monthly basis. We have specific locations and procedures in place in the event of an emergency, either on or off campus.
Student Release Plan
If an onsite evacuation occurs, we have two locations for reuniting parents and staff with their families. The first location would be at the front gate, between the principal’s office and the north parking lot. The second location would be at the back gate near the south parking lot. (Please refer to diagram on the back side.) The Sheriff’s Department will assist the school if needed to organize the releasing of students. Please pick up your child where you normally would after school. In the event that we evacuate off-site, please look for Craig Williams Elementary signs at the two listed locations. A student list will be kept by a school official. School officials will maintain control over the care and release of the students. Adults listed on the emergency card will be allowed to pick up your child with their ID. Please have your ID out and ready.

EMERGENCY KITS FOR CRAIG WILLIAMS
The students and teachers are preparing classrooms for earthquake emergency preparedness. As part of our program, we are requiring all students to put together a “comfort kit” with their parents’ help. The “comfort kit” is intended to help make students more comfortable in the event that they have to stay at school for an extended period of time during an emergency.
Recommended Supplies for Earthquake Kit
The following supplies are recommended for an individual earthquake kit for school, home, office, and car. This kit contains the bare essentials necessary to sustain life. You are encouraged to add to this list as you desire and are able.
Here are some suggested items to include in a gallon size Ziploc plastic bag labeled with your child’s name:
- One bottle of water
- Granola bar
- Crackers
- Cereal
- Pudding (with plastic spoon)
- Any other non-perishable item(s)
The food items are suggestions. Please customize the kit to your child’s likes and medical needs. Items should be securely packaged and easy to open.
